Description

Pack a lunch, invite a friend, and join the discussion! This month's we'll view and discuss "How common knowledge shapes the world" by Steven Pinker.

Common knowledge may seem simple on the surface, but where does it come from and how is it used? Pinker, an experimental cognitive scientist, explores the momentous impact of shared knowledge, including how it guides our relationships, experiences, understanding, and what it means when shared norms wobble. With wit and wisdom, he threads together stories of why autocrats fear blank signs, why central bankers mumble, and why saying the quiet part out loud can wreck a friendship.

WPL’s TED Talk Lunch Series is free and open to the public. Community members are invited to bring a sack lunch; coffee and dessert are provided.
