Program Description

Description

The Friends group will host Tabitha Hogan for a program called "Your Right to Read" at their November meeting.  The program was previously presented to the Women for Kansas - Cowley County group in September.

The program will provide an overview of the history of book censorship with an exploration of current trends. Hogan will also spotlight the role of libraries in protecting intellectual freedoms, including how libraries are upholding First Amendment Rights.

Tabitha Hogan is the Director of the Winfield Public Library. She holds an M.L.S. (Master of Library Science) and an M.S. in School Leadership from Emporia State University. A lifelong Kansan, Hogan has an extensive background in libraries, working in public and school libraries and through active professional contributions to regional and national library associations. Hogan believes that public libraries serve a vital role in the community to inspire and connect patrons to one another and to ideas, developing creativity, innovation, and understanding.
