Purpose of Meeting
In preparation for their annual plant sale, the Gardenaires Club is hosting a presentation/ educational opportunity at the Winfield Public Library on Tuesday, April 25 at 5:30. We will be discussing the various plants that will be available at the sale, including planting info and care as well. Which plants like shade or sun? Do they need to be thinned out? Are they more invasive or how much do they spread? Are they flowering plants, grasses, ground cover or border plants? There will also be info given about vegetable plants, as well. We will have hand-outs and photos so you will be better prepared to select plants this spring that are best suited to your location. There will be a question and answer session as well. We hope this will be helpful to any and all gardeners preparing for spring planting.
The Gardenaires Club have been serving Winfield since its formation in 1957. The organization's objective is to stimulate the knowledge and love of the garden among amateurs and to aid in the protection of native trees, plants and birds and to encourage civic plantings. Many of the civic gardens around town (Island Park, the Winfield Public Library, the Main Street pocket gardens, the Historical Museum) were established by the Gardenaires. Once a year, the club has a plant sale to raise money to support these plantings. This year's sale is on April 29 at the Aquatic Center.
