Program Description

Description

Home food preservation is a way to preserve the freshness of homegrown food. When done properly and safely, home preserved foods are a treat. But when improper practices and unsafe food handling techniques are used, the food can cause foodborne illness.

Becky Reid, Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent, will lead this workshop to explain the science of the recommended methods. Participants will be introduced to numerous resources to help get started with food preservation. Special giveaways to all participants!

Registration is not required. See you at the Winfield Public Library, 605 College Street,  on Thursday, August 10 at 3 p.m. If you have food preservation questions, please call K-State Research and Extension at 620-221-5450.
