Description

Who doesn’t love a good mystery?  The Winfield Public Library October Reading Challenge is “a mystery,” and the Afternoon Book Club is tackling the challenge with Richard Osman’s The Thursday Murder Club.  Copies of the book are available to check out at WPL’s front desk.  The book discussion, open to the public, will be held on Wednesday, October 19 at 2:30pm.

Published in 2020, The Thursday Murder Club is 382 pages and has a 3.9 rating on goodreads.    From the publisher:

In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet weekly in the Jigsaw Room to discuss unsolved crimes; together they call themselves the Thursday Murder Club.

When a local developer is found dead with a mysterious photograph left next to the body, the Thursday Murder Club suddenly find themselves in the middle of their first live case. As the bodies begin to pile up, can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer, before it’s too late?

WPL’s 2022 Reading Challenge encourages everyone, no matter what age, to read along with us.  Each month we will feature a theme and encourage you to select a book that fits.  Participate as much as you want – you are welcome to take on one, two, or all 12 challenges.  2022 Reading Challenge topics are:  January – the first book in a series; Feb – off the new shelf; March – a spin-off or retelling of a classic; April – a book about weather or climate; May – a Sci-Fi book; June – a book that involves water; July – a book set in a library or bookstore; August – a book less than 200 pages; September – a book that involves music; October – a mystery book; November – a book chosen for its cover; December – a book with “light” or “lite” in the title.
