Program Description

Description

Practice self-expression through collaging with the new Grab & Go Collaging Kit from the Winfield Arts & Humanities Council and Winfield Public Library.  Available for pick up at the Winfield Public Library starting Tuesday, May 25th, these kits will teach 10 art collaging techniques and come with everything needed to not only create a sample book illustrating these techniques but also tools to create original artwork. 67156 residents can register for a kit by calling WPL (620-221-4470) or below; kits are available to non-Winfield residents starting June 1st.  Supplies are limited.

Collaging helps you see the emotion and intent behind color, lines, form, and more. Through collaging, you will easily acquire new art skills that turn a collection of images and pictures into a cohesive message, and will start "seeing" the rich treasury of images, symbols, even text and font.

In addition, collaging allows you to become a "treasure-hunter".  All those stacks of magazines, scraps of fabric, pieces of paper, and more that you didn't have the heart to throw out become a gold-filled stream you can't wait to dip your sifting pan in. Collaging is also an activity that can be done individually or with a partner.

This initiative is made possible by a Libraries Transforming Communities: Focus on Small and Rural Libraries grant, an initiative of the American Library Association (ALA) in collaboration with the Association for Rural & Small Libraries (ARSL).
