Program Description

Description

Celebrate Earth Day by helping scientists monitor wildlife! In this hands-on event, we will virtually connect with participants around the country AND the scientists behind the NASA-supported research project Snapshot Wisconsin.

After hearing from the research team, you will log in to explore trail camera photos and help classify the animals you see. Your contributions help track changes in wildlife distributions and abundances over time—critical data that informs wildlife management and conservation decisions. You will also be able to ask questions and receive real-time answers from the team behind this research.

No experience or special equipment is required. All you need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with Wi-Fi and curiosity! Recommended for ages 13+ and families. A limited number of laptops will be available, but participants are encouraged to bring a Wi-Fi connected device from home.

Registration through SciStarter.org and Zooniverse is required for full participation. For assistance registering in advance, stop by WPL's "What is Citizen Science" come-and-go event on Saturday, March 14.

This event is part of "Do NASA Science LIVE!", a series of events produced by SciStarter featuring NASA citizen science projects that need your help.
