Program Description

Description

In March 1990, thirteen works of art were stolen from Boston’s Gardner Museum in one of the largest property thefts in the world.   This still-unsolved heist inspired author B.A. Shaprio’s literary thriller The Art Forger, topic of Winfield Public Library’s upcoming Afternoon Book Club. All are welcome to join the book discussion on Wednesday, February 22 at 2:30pm in the library’s community room.

Selected for the WPL February Reading Challenge of “a book about art or artists,” The Art Forger combines three centuries of art forgers, art thieves and obsessive art collectors with the modern-day story of a young artist who agrees to forge a painting in exchange for a one-woman show in a renowned gallery.  Published in 2012, it is 384 pages long and has a 3.7 rating on goodreads.  Copies are available to check out at the library’s front desk.
