Description

Winfield Public Library’s last book discussion of the year will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 2:30pm.  All are welcome to join this free event!

Throughout the year, WPL’s book clubs have read along with the 2022 Reading Challenge. This month the Afternoon Book Club will close out the year by reading and discussing Anita Shreve’s Light on Snow.  The December challenge topic is a book “with ‘light’ or ‘lite’ in the title.”  Copies of the book are available to check out at WPL’s front desk.

Published in 2004, Light on Snow is 288 pages and has a 3.6 rating on goodreads.    From the publisher:

What makes a family? That’s what twelve-year-old Nicky Dillon wonders after she and her widowed father discover a wailing abandoned baby in the snow-filled woods near their New Hampshire farm. Through the days that follow, the Dillons and an unexpected visitor who soon turns up at their door – a young woman evidently haunted by her own terrible choices – face a thicket of decisions, each seeming to carry equal possibilities of heartbreak and redemption.

WPL’s Reading Challenge will continue with twelve new themes in 2023. Readers of all ages are encouraged to read along with us as we feature a monthly theme. For details on the 2023 challenge, watch wpl.org and the WPL Facebook page.
